| A-1 Status (Diplomats) |

| A.
The Object of Visa Issuance
This applies to foreigners : diplomatic missions of countries recognized by
the Korean Government, consular officers assigned to represent their countries
in Korea, foreigners granted privileges and/or immunities equal to diplomatic
mission in accordance with treaties or international customary practices, and
their immediate family members.
¡Ø A group visa is issued to a temporary visiting diplomatic group or a group
of International conference participants.
B. Application and Required Documents
A foreigner shall make an application for a visa to a Korean Embassy or
Consulate abroad and required documents are as follows:
¤· Diplomat passport ¤· Application form ¤· Dispatch order or an official
document to substantiate his/her assignment
¡Ø If necessary, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may ask an
applicant to submit more documents than required.
C. The Standard of Visa Issuance
(1) The chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may issue this
visa(A-1) without getting permission from the Minister of Justice (excluding
China, Cuba and Macedonia : refer to Annex 4, 5).
(2) In case a foreign diplomat scheduled to be stationed in Korea applies for
a visa and presents an official letter of his Government, a multiple visa of 3
year validity will be issued.
(3) For an applicant whose country(U.S.A, Japan, China, Russia, Uzbekistan)
has an agreement for multiple visas with the Republic of Korea, a multiple visa
stipulated by the agreement will be issued(refer to Annex 6,7,8,9. as of Dec.
1999).
(4) In case a foreign diplomat is scheduled to carry out temporary diplomatic
missions, a single visa of 3 month validity will be issued.
(5) If a foreign diplomat holding a regular passport rather than a diplomatic
passport presents an official document of the Minister of Foreign Affairs or
pertinent Department of the pertinent country, a single visa of 3 month validity
will be issued for one time, and a visa issuance fee may be exempted.
D. Visa Issuance
When the application is approved, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate
abroad shall affix a visa stamp in the passport of the applicant. On a visa
stamp, there are the status of sojourn(A-1), period of stay and validity of a
visa. |

| A-3 Status (Agreement) |

A. The Object of Visa Issuance
This applies to foreigners who are exempted from alien registration or deemed
necessary to be exempt from it according to the agreements with the Republic of
Korea, and their immediate family members.
B. Application and Required Documents
A foreigner shall make an application for a visa to a Korean Embassy or
Consulate abroad and required documents are as follows:
¤· Passport ¤· Application form (refer to Annex 2) ¤· Dispatch and an
official document to substantiate his/her assignment
¡Ø If necessary, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may ask an
applicant to submit more documents than required.
C. The Standard of Visa Issuance
¤· The chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may issue this single or
multiple visa(A-3) without getting permission from the Minister of
Justice (excluding China, Cuba and Macedonia). ¤· For an applicant whose
country(U.S.A, Japan) has an agreement for multiple visas with the
Republic of Korea, a multiple visa stipulated by the agreement will be
issued (refer to Annex 6,7. as of Dec. 1999).
D. Visa Issuance
If the application is approved as a result of an examination, the chief of a
Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad shall affix a visa stamp in the passport of
the applicant. On a visa stamp, there are the status of sojourn(A-3), period of
stay and validity of a visa. |

| C-1 Status (Temporary News
Coverage) |

| A.
The Object of Visa Issuance
¤· Foreigners who want to engage in temporary news coverage or report
activities. ¤· Foreigners who want to engage in temporary activities for the
establishment of foreign news branch office.
¡Ø When a foreigner who entered Korea with this status is scheduled to be
stationed in a newly established branch office, he/she may be permitted to
change his/her status of sojourn to residence reporters (D-5).
B. Application and Required Documents
A foreigner shall make an application for a visa to a Korean Embassy or
Consulate abroad and required documents are as follows:
¤· Passport ¤· Application form (refer to Annex 2) ¤· Dispatch order and
employment certificate or a copy of press card.
¡Ø If necessary, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may ask an
applicant to submit more documents than required.
C. The Standard of Visa Issuance
¤· The chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may issue a single
visa(C-1) without getting permission from the Minister of Justice (excluding
China, Cuba and Macedonia). ¤· For an applicant whose country(U.S.A, Brazil)
has an agreement for multiple visas with the Republic of Korea, a multiple visa
stipulated by the agreement will be issued (refer to Annex 6. as of Dec.
1999).
D. Visa Issuance
When the application is approved, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate
abroad shall affix a visa stamp in the passport of the applicant. On a visa
stamp, there are the status of sojourn(C-1), period of stay and validity of a

| C-2 Status (Short-term
Business) |

| A.
The Object of Visa Issuance
This category is available to foreigners who are going to engage in marketing
research, business liaison, on-the-job training, counselling, contract, pilot
operation of export-import machines as well as installment, repairs and
inspection on them during the short period of time.
e.g., buyer, importer, exporter, inspector, etc.
¡Ø The holder of APEC Card(APEC B.T.C) is permitted to enter Korea with no
visa for 60 days.
B. Application and Required Documents
A foreigner shall make an application for a visa to a Korean Embassy or
Consulate abroad and required documents are as follows:
¤· Passport ¤· Application form (refer to Annex 2) ¤· Substantiating
documents for applicant's activity(business related documents, L/C, invoice,
invitation letter, an import license, contract, etc.)
¡Ø If necessary, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may ask an
applicant to submit more documents than required.
C. The Standard of Visa Issuance
¤· The chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may issue a single
visa(C-2) without getting permission from the Minister of Justice (excluding
Cuba and Macedonia). ¤· For an applicant whose country(U.S.A, Japan, India,
Canada, Argentina, Australia) has an agreement for multiple visas with the
Republic of Korea, a multiple visa stipulated by the agreement will be
issued (refer to Annex 6,7,8,9,10. as of Dec. 1999).

When the application is approved, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate
abroad shall affix a visa stamp in the passport of the applicant. On a visa
stamp, there are the status of sojourn(C-2), period of stay(less than 90 days)

Employment) |
| A.
The Object of Visa Issuance
This visa applies to foreigners who wish to employ themselves in temporary
entertainment, modelling for advertisement and fashion, lecture, research,
technique-instruction and so on during a short term.
B. Application and Required Documents
A foreigner shall make an application for a visa to a Korean Embassy or
Consulate abroad and required documents are as follows:
¤· Passport ¤· Application form (refer to Annex 2) ¤· Employment
contract ¤· A recommendation, an official letter or other documents which
prove the necessity of employment by the pertinent Minister of Department (e.g.,
for entertainment : a recommendation letter from the Korea Media Rating
Board)
¡Ø If necessary, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may ask an
applicant to submit more documents than required.
C. The Standard of Visa Issuance
¤· The chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may issue a single
visa(C-4) without getting permission from the Minister of Justice (excluding
Cuba and Macedonia). ¤· For an applicant whose country(U.S.A, Japan) has an
agreement for multiple visas with the Republic of Korea, a multiple visa
stipulated by the agreement will be issued (refer to Annex 6,7. as of Dec.
1999).

| D-1 Status (Culture/Art) |

| A.
The Object of Visa Issuance
This visa is available to foreigners who wish to be occupied in academic or
art activities which are not for the purpose of profit-making. This category
includes foreigners who long for professional research or being instructed in
Korean traditional culture or art.
¡Ø A person who falls under the status of students (D-2) or professors (E-1)
is excluded from the category of this visa.
¡Ø A person who wants to stay in Korea no longer than 90 days with the above
purpose belongs to the status of short-term visitors (C-3).
B. Application and Required Materials
(1) Traditional Procedures
A foreigner shall make an application for a visa to a Korean Embassy or
Consulate abroad and required documents are as follows:
¤· Passport ¤· Application form (refer to Annex 2) ¤· Required
documents - invitation letter - official documents on the establishment of
the institute * In the case of professional teaching : career
certificate - resume or career certificate - substantiating documents for
the expenses during stay in Korea
¡Ø If necessary, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may ask an
applicant to submit more documents than required.
(2) The Procedures in which a Certificate for Recognition of Visa Issuance
is involved
¤· A certificate for recognition of visa issuance is issued by the chief of a
district or branch office (Ujongbu, Ulsan, Donghae) to a person concerned in
Korea(proxy) on the grounds of his application. ¤· A person concerned in
Korea(proxy) sends the issued certificate by the chief of immigrationoffice to
the applicant abroad. ¤· An applicant(foreigner) applies for a visa to a
Korean Embassy or Consulate with this certificate, passport and application
form. ¤· Required documents by a person concerned in Korea(proxy) are the same
as those of traditional procedures. If necessary, the chief of a district or
branch office may ask a proxy to submit more documents than required.
¡Ø An applicant may ask to issue a certain type of visa which is not mandated
to the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad. However, in this case, the
chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad shall get prior approval from the
Minister of Justice in advance.
C. The Standard of Visa Issuance
¤· The chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may issue a single
visa(D-1) with 1 year period of sojourn to the following applicants without
getting permission from the Minister of Justice (excluding China, Cuba and
Macedonia). - Invitees of Korea International Cooperation Agency or Korean
Culture & Art Foundation - An adopted Korean-foreigner ¤· For an
American, a multiple visa stipulated by the agreement will be issued (refer to
Annex 6). ¤· This visa is restricted from being issued to an applicant who
applies for remuneration activity.
D. Visa Issuance
When the application is approved, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate
abroad shall affix a visa stamp in the passport of the applicant. On a visa
stamp, there are the status of sojourn(D-1), period of stay(less than 2 years)
and validity of a visa. |

| D-2 Status (Students) |

| A.
The Object of Visa Issuance
This visa category is designed for students who wish to pursue academic
courses of study or research at junior colleges or higher educational
institutions or educational/scientific research organizations.
B. Application and Required Documents
(1) Traditional Procedures A foreigner shall make an application for a
visa to a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad and required documents are as
follows:
¤· Passport ¤· Application form (refer to Annex 2) ¤· Required
documents
- standard admission letter (to substantiate the educational ability and
coverage of the expense - of the applicant in Korea, issued by the president
or a dean of the University)
¡Ø If necessary, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may ask an
applicant to submit more documents than required.
(2) The Procedures in which a Certificate for Recognition of Visa Issuance is
involved
¤· A Certificate for Recognition of Visa Issuance is issued to a person
concerned in Korea(proxy) on the grounds of his application by the chief of a
district or branch office.(Ujongbu, Ulsan, Donghae) ¤· A person concerned in
Korea(proxy) sends the issued certificate by the chief of immigration office to
the applicant abroad. ¤· An applicant(foreigner) applies for a visa to the
Korean Embassy or Consulate with the above certificate, passport and application
form. ¤· Required documents by a person concerned in Korea(proxy) are the same
as those of traditional procedures. If necessary, the chief of a district or
branch office may ask a proxy to submit more documents than required.
¡Ø An applicant may ask to issue a certain visa which is not mandated to the
chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad. However, in this case, the chief
of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad shall get prior approval from the
Minister of Justice.

visa(D-2) with 2 year period of sojourn without getting permission from the
Minister of Justice (excluding China, Cuba and Macedonia). - An adopted
Korean-foreigner ¤· For an applicant whose country(U.S.A, Japan) has an
agreement for multiple visas with the Republic of Korea, a multiple visa
stipulated by the agreement will be issued(refer to Annex 6,7. as of Dec.
1999). ¤· This visa is restricted from being issued to an applicant who
intends to raise money for tuition fees or expenses in Korea.
D. Visa Issuance
When the application is approved, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate
abroad shall affix a visa stamp in the passport of the applicant. On a visa
stamp, there are the status of sojourn(D-2), period of stay(less than 2 years)
and validity of a visa.
¢¼ Attentions
The holder of this visa(D-2) is not allowed to engage in any other activity
for remuneration such as a part-time job. In case a foreign student breaks this
rule, he/she will be punished according to the article 94 or 95 of Immigration
Law. In principle, a tuition fee or living expenses in Korea shall be covered by
his/her own money, therefore, to an applicant who intends to raise money for
tuition fees or expenses in Korea is restricted from this visa
issuance. |

| D-3 Status (Industrial
Trainees) |

A.
The Objects of Visa Issuance ¤· This visa is available to individuals who
will participate in a formal training program which must be related to the
following Korean companies : (a) Industrial firms which directly invest money
into foreign countries or have joint venture relations with foreign
companies(D-3-1) (b) Industrial firms which offer techniques to foreign
countries(D-3-1) (c) Industrial firms which export plants to foreign
countries.(D-3-1) ¤· This visa is also available to individuals who will
participate in a formal program which must be related to the following Korean
companies : (a) Industrial firms which are recommended by the chief of the
Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business : D-3-2 (b) Industrial firms
which are recommended by the chief of the National Federation of Fisheries
Cooperatives : D-3-3 (c) Industrial firms which are recommended by the
Minister of a pertinent Department : D-3-4 (d) Industrial firms which are
recommended by the chief of the Construction Association of Korea : D-3-5 (e)
Industrial firms which are recommended by the chief of the Korea Shipping
Association : D-3-6
B. Application and Required Documents
This visa(D-3) is only issued based on a certificate for recognition of visa
issuance issued by the chief of a district or branch office. Therefore, a
pertinent industrial company which wants to employ foreign industrial trainees
shall apply in advance for a certificate for recognition of visa issuance to the
immigration office which has a jurisdiction over its location. Then, the above
concerned company in Korea shall send the original copy of this certificate to
the invested company abroad. Finally, the invested company abroad shall apply
for a visa to the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad with a passport,
application form and this certificate.
Required documents for the issuance of a certificate for recognition of visa
issuance are as follows:
¤· Application form ¤· Recommendation letter of the President of the Korea
Federation of Small and Medium Business or substantiating documents such as
remittance bill or receipt, certificate of business of invested company,
etc. ¤· Training plan ¤· Reference ¤· Sponsorship paper
¡Ø If necessary, the chief of a district or branch office may ask an applicant
to submit more documents than required.
C. The Standard of Visa Issuance
This visa(D-3) is issued based on a certificate for recognition of visa
issuance issued by the chief of a district or branch office.
D. Visa Issuance
When the application is approved, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate
abroad shall affix a visa stamp in the passport of the applicant. On a visa
stamp, there are the status of sojourn(D-3), period of stay(less than 2 years)
and validity of a visa. |

| D-4 (General Trainees) |
 |
| A.
The Object of Visa Issuance
This visa category is reserved for foreigners who are coming to Korea to be
trained or educated by educational institutions or organizations other than
organizations under the D-2 status described already.
¡Ø The D-4 visa does not involve individuals who receive money from training
organizations or who wish to pursue academic courses of study at below the high
school level educational institutions with the status of visiting and joining
families (F-1) or dependent families (F-3).
¡Ø An individual who wants to stay in Korea no longer than 90 days is involved
in the category of short-term visitor's visa(C-3).
B. Application and Required Documents
(1) Traditional Procedures A foreigner shall make an application for a
visa to a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad and required documents are as
follows: ¤· Passport ¤· Application form (refer to Annex 2) ¤· Required
documents ¨ç In the case of individuals who desire to learn Korean language at
a University language center or exchange-students who are coming to Korea to be
trained or educated at a University according to the agreements between
Universities. - Certificate of an admission to University or a certificate of
student registration. - Substantiating documents for expense's coverage in
Korea, remittance or money-exchange bill (over U.S$ 3,000) - Sponsorship
paper(in the case of insufficient substantiation for the expense's coverage in
Korea or deemed necessary to submit by the Minister of Justice)
¡Ø In case an individual who could not obtain this visa(D-4) due to the time
limit, he/she enters Korea first with a status of short-term visitors (C-3).
Then, he/she can apply for permission to change his/her status of sojourn to
this visa(D-4) to the district or branch office which has a jurisdiction over
his/her stay.
¨è Other training cases - Substantiating documents for the training -
Documents related with the training institution - Substantiating documents
for expense's coverage in Korea in the case of sponsoring by the training
institution : a conformation document of sponsorship in other cases : remittance
or money-exchange bill (over U.S$ 3,000) - Sponsorship paper(in the case of
insufficient substantiation for the expense's coverage in Korea or deemed
necessary to submit by the Minister of Justice)
¡Ø If necessary, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may ask an
applicant to submit more documents than required.
(2) The Procedures in which a Certificate for Recognition of Visa Issuance is
involved

of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad shall get prior approval from the
Minister of Justice.
C. The Standard of Visa Issuance
¤· The chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may issue a single
visa(D-4) with 1 year period of sojourn to individuals who desire to learn
Korean language at a University language center or who are invited to learn
Korean language at a University by the Korea International Cooperation
Agency(KOICA) without getting permission from the Minister of Justice (excluding
China, Cuba and Macedonia). ¤· For an applicant whose country(U.S.A, Japan)
has an agreement for multiple visas with the Republic of Korea, a multiple visa
stipulated by the agreement will be issued(refer to Annex 6,7. as of Dec.
1999). ¤· This visa is restricted from being issued to an applicant who
intends to raise money for a tuition fee or expenses in Korea.

| D-5 Status (Residence
Reporters) |

| A.
The Object of Visa Issuance
Foreigners who are visiting Korea to work for foreign information media such
as foreign newspaper, television, magazine, or other reporting organizations
while stationing in Korea may be eligible for this D-5 classification.
¡Ø A member of the staff other than a reporter is not involved in the category
of this visa(D-5).
¡Ø A person who is scheduled to stay no longer than 90 days in Korea for the
purpose of the above activity is involved in the category of temporary news
coverage (C-1).
B. Application and Required Documents
(1) Traditional Procedures
A foreigner shall make an application for a visa to a Korean Embassy or
Consulate abroad and required documents are as follows: ¤· Passport ¤·
Application form (refer to Annex 2) ¤· Required documents - substantiating
documents for a foundation of branch office in Korea - dispatch order or a
certificate of in service
¡Ø If necessary, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may ask an
applicant to submit more documents than required.
(2) The Procedures in which a Certificate for Recognition of Visa Issuance is
involved
¤· A certificate for recognition of visa issuance is issued to a person
concerned in Korea(proxy) on the grounds of his application by the chief of a
district or branch office. (Ujongbu, Ulsan,Donghae) ¤· A person concerned in
Korea(proxy) sends the issued certificate by the chief of immigration office to
the applicant abroad. ¤· An applicant(foreigner) applies for a visa to the

Workers) |

| A.
The Object of Visa Issuance
¤· To obtain the D-6 visa, the following qualifications should be met.
(a) Individuals who wish to be engaged in religious activities for Korean
branches or pertinent religious organizations as the members of religious or
social welfare organizations of foreign countries. (excluding individuals who
receive remuneration from the organizations.) (b) Individuals who are invited
by religious or social welfare organizations in Korea in order to do activities
on social welfare or religion.
¡Ø A person who is scheduled to stay no longer than 90 days in Korea for the
purpose of the above activities isinvolved in the category of short-term
visitors (C-3).
B. Application and Required Documents
(1) Traditional Procedures A foreigner shall make an application for a
visa to a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad and required documents are as
follows: ¤· Passport ¤· Application form (refer to Annex 2) ¤· Required
documents - dispatch order - substantiating documents for the foundation
of religious or social welfare organizations - substantiating documents for
expense's coverage in Korea
¡Ø If necessary, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may ask an
applicant to submit more documents than required.
(2) The Procedures in which a certificate for recognition of visa issuance is
involved
¤· A certificate for recognition of visa issuance is issued to a person
concerned in Korea(proxy) on the grounds of his application by the chief of a
district or branch office. (Ujongbu, Ulsan, Donghae) ¤· A person concerned in
Korea(proxy) sends the issued certificate by the chief of immigration office to
the applicant abroad. ¤· An applicant(foreigner) applies for a visa to the

joint venture companies, wish to engage in the field of manufacturing and
technology as well as in its management. The D-8 visa include those who are
dispatched to the company as managers or technical experts, except for
foreigners who are hired in the Republic of Korea.
¡Ø A technical expert means an individual who is deemed to be essential in the
pertinent field with a unique knowledge, high technical ability and exclusive
experience.
B. Application and Required Documents
(1) Traditional Procedures
A foreigner shall make an application for a visa to a Korean Embassy or
Consulate abroad and required documents are as follows:

The Objects of Visa Issuance
A D-9 visa is available to foreign professionals who desire to carry on an
enterprise or participate in trade and other commercial enterprises after
founding their companies in the Republic of Korea. This category includes
foreign citizens who wish to work for private or public organizations in Korea
in order to install/repair of import machinery and so on, or supervise the
building of ships and industrial plants, except for individuals hired in Korea
or treaty investors under the D-8 status.
* An individual involved in the category of intra-company transferees (D-7)
or treaty investors (D-8) is excluded from the objects of this visa
issuance.
B. Application and Required Documents

by the Educational Law, wish to instruct special fields of study or engage in
the guidance of research at junior colleges or higher educational institutions,

* In the case of a national or a public University, a foreigner is not
permitted to be a full-time professor.

The E-2 visa is available to individuals who have the qualifications
specified by the Minister of justice and desire to instruct foreign languages at
foreign language institutions, educational institutions of elementary school and
higher levels or their attached language research institutions, or language
training institutions attached to public/private companies or broadcasting
stations, or other institutions/organizations corresponding to such institutions
as described above.
* In principle, a foreign language instructor shall be a native speaker of
the teaching language.

(5) Scientists who want to be occupied with study or research in the research
institution attached to a University.

research institutions which employ more than five full-time researchers with
higher degree than a bachelor and more than 3 years' career as well as
designated by the Minister of Science and Technology.

non-profit research institutions of science or sophisticated technology

of technology introduction regulated by Foreign Investment Promotion Act or
Engineering Technology Promotion Act. ¤· An individual who intends to provide
national defence companies with technology according to the Act on Special
Measures for Defense Industry. ¤· An individual who intends to provide
government invested organizations according to the contract with industrial
technology. ¤· In addition to the above cases, an individual who has a unique
and high technique which cannot be obtained in Korea and intends to provide
public or private institutions in the Republic of Korea with an industrial high
technology. - An individual who is dispatched from foreign company and
intends to provide industrial technology in a special field.. - An individual
who intends to provide Korean industrial companies with special technology.
* A person who is scheduled to stay no longer than 90 days in Korea for the
purpose of the above activity is involved in the category of short-term
employment (C-4).

"Foreigners in specialty occupations¡±mean those who have qualifications for a
lawyer, certified public accountant, medical doctor or other individuals who are
qualified for specialty occupations, and wish to be involved in such speciality
occupations as laws, accounting, medical services and so on. Such as :
¤· Pilots recommended by the Minister of Construction &
Transportation ¤· Medical doctors who have the most up-to-date medical science
and art, and recommended by the Minister of Health & Welfare to work in a
following medical institution. - medical institution organizing by the public
or local self-governing body - medical corporation - medical center
established by a non-profit corporation or government invested organization ¤·
Individuals who graduated from Korean medical school and are taking an
internship course in a University attached hospital or a hospital designated by
the Minister of Health & Welfare ¤· Indispensible persons for the
operation of tour cruiser and invited by a person who is approved to do
Inter-Korean Cooperation Business according to the Inter-Korean Exchange &
Cooperation Act for the purpose of Mt. Kumgang Tour Project ¤· Indispensible
persons for the operation of vessels such as a captain hired by a Korean
transportation company.
* Individuals who fall under E-7 status are excluded from this category.

C. The Standard of Visa Issuance
¤· The chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may issue a single
visa(E-5) with 1 year period of sojourn to individuals who are pilots or
indispensible persons such as a captain hired by a Korean transportation company
for the operation of vessels without getting permission from the Minister of
Justice (excluding China, Cuba and Macedonia). ¤· For an applicant from
U.S.A. which has an agreement for multiple visas with the Republic of Korea, a
multiple visa stipulated by the agreement will be issued(refer to Annex 6). ¤·
This visa is restricted from being issued to an applicant who intends to work in
a job replaceable by Korean people such as doctor, nurse or medical expert.
D. Visa Issuance
When the application is approved, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate
abroad shall affix a visa stamp in the passport of the applicant. On a visa
stamp, there are the status of sojourn(E-5), period of stay(less than 2 years)

This E-6 visa is available to foreigners who, for the good of profit-making,
wish to be engaged in activities such as music, art, literature, entertainment,
performance, play, sports, advertising, fashion modelling, and other occupations
corresponding to those above.

¤· artist : composer, drawer, sculptor, craftsman, author, photographer ¤·
instructor for music, art, literature, photograph, musical performance, physical
training, other art activities ¤· professional boxer, professional sports
player ¤· impersonator, manager, etc.
* Individuals who fall under E-1 or E-3 status are excluded from this
category.
* A person who is scheduled to stay no longer than 90 days in Korea for the
purpose of the above activities is involved in the category of short-term
employment (C-4).
B. Application and Required Documents
(1) Traditional Procedures
A foreigner shall make an application for a visa to a Korean Embassy or
Consulate abroad and required documents are as follows:

Korean Embassy or Consulate with the above certificate, passport and application

as those of traditional procedures. If necessary, the chief of a district or
branch office may ask a proxy to submit more documents than required.

The Object of Visa Issuance This visa category applies to foreigners who
desire to work for public or private organizations as a cook, teacher of school
for foreigners only, etc., other than those in E-1 status through E-6 status.
¤· An individual who intends to work for a public or private organization as a
foreign language reviser or a teacher of school for foreigners only. ¤· An
individual who has professional knowledge or special technology and skills, and
intends to provide for a public or private organization with necessary
industrial technology, skills or professional knowledge. ¤· An individual who
intends to take up a special position in a public or private organization and is
deemed to contribute for the strength of national competitiveness. ¤· An
individual who is invited as an instructor or a coach by sports related
organization and deemed to contribute for the promotion of sports. ¤· An
individual who is hired as a staff for a foreign diplomatic and consular office
in Korea or a foreign organization. ¤· An individual who is hired as an
indispensible person in a foreign invested corporation, a foreign branch office
or foreign private company in Korea. (an approval of transfer from the chief of
the current employing company is required.)
* A person who is scheduled to stay no longer than 90 days in Korea for the
purpose of the above activity is involved in the category of short-term
employment (C-4).
¤· An individual who is hired by Korean transportation company and intends to
work as a crew member on a ship liner or Cruise Ship.
B. Application and Required Documents
(1) Traditional Procedures
A foreigner shall make an application for a visa to a Korean Embassy or
Consulate abroad and required documents are as follows:
¤· Passport ¤· Application form ¤· Required documents - employment
contract - degree or certificate of qualification - recommendation letter
for employment from the Minister of pertinent Department or substantiating
documents for the necessity of employment - substantiating documents for the
foundation of the pertinent company
* In principle, making an application for a certificate for recognition of
visa issuance, it is required to get an employment recommendation letter from
the Minister of a pertinent Department, however, the following cases are not
required to do so.
- An individual who intends to work as a teacher of schools for foreigners
only. - An individual who is hired as a staff for foreign diplomatic and
consular offices in Korea or foreign organizations. - An individual who
intends to work in a tourist lodging industry or a tourist facility for the
promotion of tourism. - An individual who intends to work for an engineering
company to provide that company with technology of the related field. - An
individual who intends to work in a specialized construction superintendent
company to provide it with superintendent technology.
¡Ø If necessary, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may ask an
applicant to submit more documents than required. top

The Object of Visa Issuance F-1 visa is granted to foreigners who wish
to stay in Korea to visit their relatives, join their families, be supported by
families, help household affairs or with other purposes corresponding to those
above. This visa category involves the following individuals :
¡£who wish to help household affairs of diplomats stationed at foreign Embassy
or Consulate ; ¡£who wish to temporarily stay with their families or relatives
having A-1, A-2, A-3 status or having alien registration completed ; ¡£who
wishes to stay for a long period of time without participating in employment
activities ; and ¡£who has not been granted the F-2 status as a wife/child of
Korean or a person having F-2 status. ¡£Korean-foreigner
B. Application and Required Documents
(1) Traditional Procedures
A foreigner shall make an application for a visa to a Korean Embassy or
Consulate abroad and required documents are as follows:

visa stipulated by the agreement will be issued.

A.
The Object of Visa Issuance This visa category is reserved for Overseas
Korean residents whom the Minister of Justice permits to stay in Korea for
special reasons.
¤· A Korean foreigner or his/her immediate family who left Korea after the
Establishment of the Korean Government and renounced Korean citizenship. ¤· A
Korean foreigner or his/her immediate family who left Korea before the
Establishment of the Korean Government and officially confirmed his/her Korean
citizenship prior to obtaining foreign nationality.
* An official confirmation means that an individual filed a registration
according to the "Registration of Korean Nationals Residing Abroad Act" with the
Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad or organizations mandated an authority by the
Republic of Korea at that time.
B. Application and Required Documents
A Korean foreigner shall make an application for a visa to a Korean Embassy
or Consulate abroad and required documents are as follows:
¤· A Korean foreigner who had Korean citizenship before his/her obtaining a
foreign nationality. - Passport - Application form - Substantiating
documents for an applicant's ex-Korean nationality such as a Korean family tree
register - Substantiating documents for the reasons and the time of obtaining
a foreign nationality - Other documents which are deemed to be necessary by
the Minister of Justice ¤· An immediate family member of a Korean-foreigner
who obtained foreign nationality - Passport - Application form -
Substantiating documents that prove his/her parent's ex-Korean nationality -
Substantiating documents for the reasons and the time of the obtaining foreign
nationality of the applicant and his/her parent - Substantiating documents
which establish the relationship of the family such as a certificate of
birth - Other documents which are deemed to be necessary by the Minister of
Justice
¡Ø If necessary, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may ask an
applicant to submit more documents than required.
C. The Standard of Visa Issuance
¤· The chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may issue a single
visa(F-4) with 2 year period of sojourn to the object of visa issuance without
getting permission from the Minister of Justice. ¤· For a Korean-American
applicant, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate abroad may issue this
multiple visa for a period of 2 years.
D. Visa Issuance
When the application is approved, the chief of a Korean Embassy or Consulate
abroad shall affix a visa stamp in the passport of the applicant. On a visa
stamp, there are the status of sojourn(F-4), period of stay(less than 2 years)
and validity of a visa.
| * Report of Stay by Overseas Korean Residents in Korea
An act for overseas Korean residents has been enacted to promote their legal
status in Korea. If they report their stay to the immigration office, they
will be treated better than other foreigners in some respects such as travel,
stay, working activity, real estate transactions, and financial transactions,
etc.
An overseas Korean includes both a Korean who lives in a foreign country and
who obtained a foreign citizenship. Here, a korean who lives in a foreign
country can be divided into 3 groups:
¨ç a Korean who obtained a permanent residence card from foreign country ¨è
a Korean who obtained a right of relevant permanent residence card ¨é a
Korean who emigrated according to the emigration law(article 2), however, does
not receive a permanent residence card yet.
A Korean who obtained a foreign citizenship means a person who can be the
object of (F-4) visa issuance already mentioned in the previous page.

The object of Visa Issuance
A national whose country made agreements or memoranda on "Working Holiday¡±
with the Republic of Korea is entitled to apply for this visa. The foreigners
are allowed to be engaged in short-term working activities while in Korea only
to meet their expenses for sightseeing.
¡Ø Countries which made agreements or memoranda on ¡°Working
Holiday¡± with the Republic of Korea ¤· Australia : 1 year period of
stay and 1 year validity of multiple visa. ¤· Canada : 6 month period of stay
and 3 month validity of multiple visa. ¤· Japan : 1 year period of stay and 1
year validity of multiple visa ¤· New Zea-land : 1 year period of stay and 1
year validity of multiple visa. | * Individuals who
intend to engage in work fields contrary to the spirit of the
agreement/memoranda or domestic laws are not allowed. For example:
¤· An individual who wants to work in an entertainment place as a
receptionist, dancer, fashion model, singer, musician, acrobat, etc. ¤· An
individual who wants to work as a medical doctor, lawyer, professor, pilot, etc.
which requires certain qualifications. ¤· An individual who wants to work as a
foreign language instructor without getting permission ¤· An individual who
wants to take a regular education or training course other than a Korean
language training course within 90 days. ¤· An individual who intends to have
a job rather than sightseeing. ¤· An Individual who wants to engage in the
activities such as a reporter, religion, research or technical instruction
contrary to the spirit of the agreement/memoranda.

A foreigner shall make an application for a visa to a Korean Embassy or
Consulate abroad and required documents are as follows:

ticket ¤· Documents proving the applicant's capability to cover the expenses

the Republic of Korea, a multiple visa stipulated by the agreement will be
issued.
